A tribute to Her Majesty The Queen

We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty The Queen, who died peacefully at Balmoral on the afternoon of Thursday 8th September 2022. She was the UK’s longest-serving monarch and is remembered worldwide as a beacon of duty, wisdom and service.

The insurance industry has come together to collectively pay tribute to Her Majesty and we would like to add our voice to the many statements that have been issued. The Queen was inspirational in the way she lived her life, dedicated to public service, and embodied the values and principles of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), of which she was Royal Patron, and which we endeavour to follow.

In 2020, the CII became an accredited member of the Commonwealth, joining the category of Professional and Civil Society Organisations. Membership saw the CII commit to the Commonwealth’s 16 values and principles, including a focus on gender equality and facilitating access to the profession to people from all backgrounds.

Her Majesty The Queen acted as head of the Commonwealth for more than 40 years, upholding its commitments to democracy, human rights tolerance and respect, freedom of expression, good governance and protection of the environment. The CII made the step out of respect for the many years’ commitment shown by Her Majesty - and now her successor, King Charles III -  and is fully committed to the shared set of values championed by the Commonwealth.

On behalf of everyone at NLIG, we send our deepest condolences to the Royal Family on the passing of HM The Queen. Our thoughts  are with the Royal Family at this sad time, and we pay tribute to the service and dedication Her Majesty has demonstrated throughout her life and reign. She set the standard for future monarchs to follow. May she rest in peace.
